I am a foreigner getting married to an Indian in Bombay in a Hindu Ceremony. What rules/requirements r there?

someone please help me! i don't know exactly what to do, when to come, where to go, what papers and other requirements to submit, and how long i have to be in India for the whole process.. the priest has given us May 6 2010 as the auspicious date and so we have booked and paid for the hall for the ceremony. but i don't know the legalities.. I am Christian and he's Hindu. if in case we get married on may 6, is this date going to be honored by the marriage officer, or is he going to put a different date on our certificate? what do u suggest we do? I am studying right now and planning to come on my summer vacation on the last week of march.. do u think this is enough time? what doents must i already have with me? is this going to be covered by the Special Act of 1954?
