Why does it seem the coaches and media have such an unhealthy infatuation with LSU?

Since the the start of the season the polls have done anything they can to put LSU in the BCS championship. They have lost 2 games, one to an unranked team, and a good portion of there wins including the SEC championship have not been decisive wins.
