Can i stop medication ever...... i have high blood pressure?

can any1 tell me if i can ever stop taking blood pressure tablets, im taking tenormin*25 since dec 2006, i hav bp 90- 95 / 130 - 145, if i stp taking t tablets i hav pain in my head or leg or smewher or i feel sleepy ... is it my whole life i hav to tak these tablets ? pls advise me any alternative .....
