How come I cant bring food into a movie theater?

Why am I not allowed to bring in my own food to a movie theater even if they sell food there to eat? I dont feel like paying 15 dollars on their rip off overprice crapy food! Why should they force me to only eat their food while I end up broke all because I couldnt bring in my food to the theater?
